A few weeks back I traveled to North London to photograph a wonderful family and their life with their newest addition. They greeted me like an old friend, even though it was the first time I’d photographed them, and I really enjoyed our time together.
Photographing newborns and babies is one of the very special perks of my job as a family photographer. I love the fact that I get to help London families capture this very special stage in their lives, from the first few days of bringing their new baby home, through the first year and to the baby’s first birthday. In this blog post, I’m going to share ten of things you must make sure you photograph (or hire a professional to photograph) before your baby turns one.
If you are currently pregnant or have just had your baby, you might be searching the internet for a newborn photographer to capture your new bundle of joy. Simply typing “London newborn photographer” into a search engine will bring thousands of results, so how are you supposed to decide which photographer to hire?
In this blog post I’m hoping to help you decide what’s the right style of newborn photography for you, when to schedule your newborn photoshoot, and what to look out for when booking a newborn photographer. So read on!
No one quite prepares you for what’s in store when you first have your baby. Sure, you can read the books, but you know nothing until you’re in it. Not to mention that every baby is unique and is their own person right from the start. Some are squishy and sleepy. Others cry a lot and have trouble feeding. Some want to be held. Others don’t. Some love water. Others scream bloody murder come bath time.
Kate booked me for their family session with a 7 week old baby Nino just two weeks before he was due to have an open heart operation. Nino was born with congenital heart decease, and it was a stressful and scary time for his parents, but it was important for them to capture their life before the big operation. As I’m writing this, Nino is now safely home following his arterial switch and a couple of weeks stay at the hospital, and according to Kate is going from strength to strength.
