One of my favourite things to do as a documentary family photographer is capture families at home, in their neighbourhood, in their element, without posing or direction.

I first photographed this American expat family a few years back, when their youngest was still a baby, and we spent wonderful couple of hours playing at their home in Twickenham which resulted in some beautiful and relaxed images that have taken proud place on their walls and in a family album.

So I was really thrilled when they got in touch with me again to book another family photoshoot at their new home in St Margarets, South West London. They booked a half-Day in the Life photoshoot, which gave us about 4 hours to capture a variety of activities, from getting breakfast, to riding bicycles in the nearby Richmond Park, to wrapping up with eating ice-cream and running through the sprinkles in the garden (it was one of those hot mucky summer days which is perfect for water games).

The result was a collection of beautiful, natural and timeless photographs that capture their family life in a meaningful and authentic way, while also showing the joy and the fun of the childhood these kids are having.

The family have opted for a set of beautiful Fine Art Albums: one for themselves to go with an album they’d ordered at their previous photography session a few years back, and smaller duplicates as gifts for the grandparents.
