It hurts me to admit this, but my son it not a crazy book junkie like his mama. I must be a boy thing, I tell myself. Or it might be that he’s too busy with other things during the day. He’s clearly a lot more sociable than I am so there’s less time for him to sit still and read – or, be read to, rather. Still, I think it’s safe to say that we read together a lot, and I thought I’d do a little round up of our favourite books this month.
Laszlo is afraid of the dark. The dark lives in the same house as Laszlo but mostly it spends its time in the basement. It doesn’t visit Laszlo in his room. Until one night it does.
This was hands down the best book of the month. It’s well-written, well illustrated story about conquering fear, and while I wouldn’t say S is afraid of dark very much, I think it still teaches a valuable lesson.
Like The Dark, S picked this book himself. It’s a story about the girl who just can’t fit in. She is clumsy, likes bright colours, and can’t eat ice-cream without covering herself in it. She is also free-spirited and knows her own mind, but just can’t help but compare herself to her perfect sister.
Naughty Toes is a wonderful story that talks about the importance of being your own person and not being afraid to be different. A great bedtime read for sure :)
Inspector Croc Investigates by Sam Lloyd
And finally, taking after his mama, S enjoyed a good ‘whodunnit’ novel! Inspector Croc is on a mission to find out the naughty person who has been up to all sorts of mischief in the Whoops-a-Daisy world! Can he find the criminal in time? Who can this be?
S loved following the clues and helping Mr Croc find the chief culprit… and you’d never guess who this might be!
