I haven’t shared out recent Bedtime Reads in a while, about time I fixed it! We’ve been enjoying lots of new books over the last few weeks, here’s Sasha’s favourites from March!

The Book With No Pictures

You might think a book with no pictures seems boring and serious. Except . . . here’s how books work. Everything written on the page has to be said by the person reading it aloud. Even if the words say… BLORK. Or BLUURF. And even if the words include things like MY HEAD IS MADE OF BLUEBERRY PIZZA!

This book’s been making waves on Facebook a few months before, but we’ve only just got it and I must say I agree with the hype. My son usually doesn’t have enough attention span to listen to a story where there’s no pictures on the page, but this one he was totally laughing his head off!

Oi, Frog

Cats sit on mats, hares sit on chairs, mules sit on stools and gofers sit on sofas, but Frog does not want to sit on a log! Jam-packed with animals and silliness, this original rhyming story will have young children in fits of laughter.

A wonderful rhyming story that also helps kids to start seeing connection between the letters and the sounds. Sasha very soon pointed out that some words are very similar and we looked at the letters they are make up of. Fun and educational – what more do you need?

The More Maker

A piece of sun has fallen from the sky and landed on Abney and Teal’s island! Abney and Teal think it must be a More-Maker because whatever they show to it, it reflects more back. But will it make them more porridge?

Sasha loves The Adventures of Abney and Teal series on BBC, so has been begging me for the books for ages. They are a little pricier than others, but they are of amazing quality and really worth the investment.
