Welcome to my blog. It’s the place to get to know me a bit better and where I share some of my work, photos from my travels, musings about life, photography and parenthood.
Photoshoot with two brothers at home in Wimbledon
I joined the family at their home in Wimbledon early on a Sunday morning. We started with a spot of crafting, continued with a battle of “stab the pirate” (rules to which no one could quite remember) and hungry hippos, some cozy book reading, bumping down the stairs (boys, not the parents) and finally venturing outside into the heavy snowfall to play with the show (which, unfortunately, didn’t settle) but we still had lots of fun!
Recent Features
I’ve been very lucky to have my photos + words featured on various website and in publications in 2017, but haven’t really done a proper round-up. So here are a few from the last couple of months of 2017. Some I have written, and for some I’ve simply contributed one of my images. Hope you find some of them useful or inspirational :)
Christmas photos & Homemade Memories
Every year, once Bonfire Night is over, the celebratory smoke from fireworks hanging in the autumn air as a promise of things to come, I start to get excited about Christmas. There’s something about these long, dark evenings and cold, cold weather which demands a touch of comfort and sparkle, in equal measures.
My favourite camera bags for women
Since I’ve started running my Un-Cheese Photography Workshops for parents, one of the questions I’m being asked a lot is about camera bags I recommend. With Christmas coming up, here’s a little round up of some camera bags that I’ve used myself, and also those I really like the look of :) Send this to your significant other if they need a hint on what you might like as a present!
Autumn London holiday photos in Notting Hill
Claire got in touch with me before their trip to London from Taipei, asking if I could capture their time in the city, so the kids could remember it. She didn’t necessarily want a typical landmark photoshoot, but photographs of them having fun as a family, and living the “London life”. They were also keen to capture the beauty that is autumn in London, walking in the park and playing with the leaves.
Christmas traditions sessions: making a gingerbread house
For this Christmas Traditions Session I headed to Richmond to photograph the family decorating their Christmas tree and making a gingerbread house. The kids were of an age where – at least some of them – could be trusted with handing a hot pan and melting sugar it in, and when I arrived they already made great progress on their gingerbread house.
Product showcase: The Print Box
It’s so important to print your photos! Who knows whether the USBs will go the way of floppy disks in the not-so-distant future. While it’s definitely important to have digital copies of your images, especially if you have family living in many different corners of the world, don’t forget to also print your photographs following your session. I offer many options, from gorgeous Fine Art Albums to professionally framed wall art – to this wonderful print box that has quickly proven popular with my clients.
Christmas traditions sessions: baby’s first Christmas
The first year of any baby’s life is full of important milestones: first smiles, first foods, first steps – and of course, first Christmas. For baby Nino this milestone was even more special: just a few months before he underwent a very complicated open heart operation, and Kate and Luke invited me to capture them and their newborn baby just before that was due to happen. A few months later, with the operation successful and the scary stuff well behind them, I joined their family again to capture Nino’s first Christmas.
