One of the perks of my job is that I get to meet people from all over the world, and this was one of those sessions. Barbi and Matt are from the US, and they booked a family session in London while they were here on their travels.
But it wasn’t only a vacation photography opportunity (a very popular trend, by the way, ensuring that you are actually IN your holiday pictures by hiring a professional to join you for a few hours or for a whole day). Their little girl, Elle, just turned one, and we celebrated the occasion by wandering the streets of London, checking out the landmarks and enjoying the sunny day.
Elle wasn’t walking just yet (but her inventive one-legged shuffle was quite something!), so she snuggled up in the baby carrier or in her parents’ arms for most of the session, and observed the new surroundings with the kind of detached curiosity only toddlers have. From Park Lane where the family where staying, to Buckingham Palace to Westminster Bridge and the South Bank (with a little stop at Boots to get a baby bottle!), we explored London’s landmarks and Barbi and Matt proved they are much better hikers than I am – I was exhausted and was falling off my feet, but they just walked on! :)
Here’s what Barbi had to say about the photographs:
These are so amazing, thank you so much! All my family is amazed and think this was a really great way to capture our vacation. I deeply appreciate your service and will treasure these photos!
