There are many things I love about being a photographer and working for myself. Sure, there are times when the going gets tough and it’s hard to find motivation and keep pushing and hustling. But there are other times when everything falls perfectly into place, you’re surrounded by like-minded people, and – my favourite bit! – you get to travel on a whim!

Last summer I visited by dear friend Dasha Caffrey (who is a truly multi-talented lady: an amazing international wedding photographer and a budding florist to boot!) in their brand new home in Co Cavan in Ireland. We spent the week hanging out, talking lots, and visiting some of the amazing sights that Ireland has to offer. I have since visited Ireland again – this time with my son – but that’s another blog post in the making!

I had been to Ireland before, but that was over 10 years ago, and way before I even had a decent camera, so I relished an opportunity to capture some of my travels this time round. This girl loves ancient ruins and the wild windswept beauty of Irish countryside, so, of course, I was in photographic heaven.

Some of my favourite sites from my trip included Mellifont Abbey, an ancient monastic site; Loughcrew Cairns, a neolithic burial site; Glendalough, Vallery of the Two Lakes and it’s nature park and another ancient monastic site; Cavan Burren forest, and of course Wicklow Mountains national park! Here’s a selection of just some of the photos I took during this trip – hope you enjoy looking through them!
