WORDS+PICTURES
Go beyond photography in this interactive, hands-on online workshop centred around creative play and experimentation.
We will explore the powerful ways images and text can co-exist together, how words can support – or alter – the meaning of a photograph (or a series of photographs) and see how all this can help us expand the possibilities of storytelling and meaning-making.
From words within photographs, to handwritten captions, unexpected juxtapositions, borrowing other people’s words and more, we’ll play, experiment, and get inspired by each other. Creative life is often solitary, but group classes offers opportunities to explore and grow beyond what’s possible on our own – and you never quite know what creative spark this will ignite.
“Antonina created such a supportive atmosphere for creativity and thoughtful sharing, and I really cherished the conversations around our work. I’d been struggling to start reflecting on the themes in my photography and this class was a perfect unblocker.”

How it’ll work:
We will explore various approaches, get inspired by many artists and photographers, and, most importantly, play! Every week for four weeks, you will receive a reading and prompts to help guide you in this exploration, but you are encouraged experiment and go wherever your creativity takes you. We will gather on Zoom every week for sharing, feedback and workshopping of ideas.
My hope is that you leave this workshop inspired, playful and ready to explore these ideas further, incorporating them into your wider creative practice.

“Words and Pictures helped me get started on a series of creative mini-projects, which in turn motivated me to keep dedicating time to my personal work. I would highly recommend!”
