Bodies of Water
This project was born out of the frustration with the lack of visual representation and the perpetuation of societal stigmas surrounding people living in larger bodies, resulting in insidious messaging that those people are unhealthy, don’t like to keep active, that their bodies are somehow wrong, and that they shouldn’t be seen on a beach or at a pool.
This ongoing project aims to challenge these harmful narratives by photographing and interviewing fat and plus-sized swimmers and celebrating the joy that being in the open water brings them.
This project has been exhibited at Sea Lanes Brighton as part of Photo Fringe 2024, and at Fringe Arts Bath Festival in 2024.
This is an ongoing project. Would you like to be part of it? Please get in touch.
